About Samburu National Reserve

Samburu National Reserve in northern Kenya is a distinctive safari destination, noted for its arid scenery, rugged terrain and species not often found elsewhere in the country. The reserve is home to the 'Samburu Special Five' — Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx and gerenuk. Elephants are numerous and commonly seen bathing in the Ewaso Nyiro River, the lifeline of the reserve. Predators such as lions, leopards and cheetahs roam freely here, making it a superb spot for a safari. Visitors can also experience the rich culture of the Samburu people, who live closely with the natural environment.
