Summer in its most generous splendour
January is high summer in Kenya: long golden days, reliable sunshine and that dry heat which makes dawn game drives crisp and afternoons poolside-perfect. The landscape wears the late-year rains lightly — still green in patches, drying to gold — and visibility across the plains is superb. The first week brings festive-season crowds and higher prices; by mid-month the parks quieten while the weather holds.
The coast is at its most tropical — hot, still and blue — making January a natural bush-and-beach month.

Babies, big cats and binoculars
The southern ecosystems are vibrant with new life: it’s calving time around Amboseli and the Tsavo plains, and predators know it.
