Itinerary

Day 1

1 Explore the Rift Valley — First Game Drive at Lake Nakuru Open

Leave Nairobi and climb to the viewpoints of the Great Rift Valley, where the land drops away in vast, layered steps — the first of many moments today that belong on camera. Descend to Lake Nakuru National Park, a compact reserve famed for the flamingos along its shoreline, its acacia woodlands and one of Kenya's strongest populations of black and white rhino.

After lunch, head out on your first game drive. Buffalo, giraffe and impala graze the lakeshore flats, leopards rest in the branches for those with keen eyes, and the birdlife runs to hundreds of species. Your guide will unpack the workings of this remarkable ecosystem as you go — a vivid first taste of safari.

Day 2

1 Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha – Boat Safari and Optional Island Walk Open

After breakfast, follow the Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake ringed by acacia forest and alive with birds. Out on the water, your boat glides quietly past pods of hippos — ears and eyes just above the surface — while African fish eagles call overhead and kingfishers flash along the shoreline.

For a rare thrill, add the optional walking safari on Crescent Island (additional fee), one of the few places in Kenya where you can walk — no vehicle, no barrier — among grazing zebra, giraffe and antelope. Gentle, scenic and rich in wildlife, this is a day the whole family will remember.

Day 3

1 Transfer to the Maasai Mara via Mau Narok and afternoon game drive Open

Take breakfast beside Lake Naivasha, then head west for the Maasai Mara, climbing through the cool green highlands of Mau Narok. It's a road trip of contrasts — rolling farmland, remote villages and, finally, the moment the land opens onto the Mara's golden plains.

After check-in and time to freshen up, head out on your first Mara game drive. Lions, elephants and herds of wildebeest headline one of Africa's greatest wildlife arenas, and your guide will know where the day's stories are unfolding. The classic Mara experience starts here.

Day 4

1 Full-day Maasai Mara game drives with picnic lunch Open

With a picnic lunch packed and a whole day ahead, you are free to roam the Maasai Mara at the wildlife's pace rather than the clock's. All of the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino — inhabit these plains, together with cheetah, hyena and countless antelope.

Lunch is served at a scenic spot overlooking golden savannah or a meandering river, with the sounds of the reserve for company. Between sightings your guide will share how this ecosystem works and why protecting it matters — while photographers will find it hard to put the camera down thanks to the Mara's light, drama and migratory birdlife.

Day 5

1 Optional Sunrise Hot-Air Balloon Flight & Return to Nairobi Open

If you select one final indulgence, choose the optional hot-air balloon safari — lifting off in the half-light to drift above the Maasai Mara as the sun rises over a wilderness that seems to have no edges. Then enjoy breakfast and check out of your lodge.

The drive back to Nairobi retraces the Great Rift Valley one last time — five days of lakes, flamingo shorelines, boat rides and big cats behind you, and every reason to return for more.
