2.How January Feels
Summer at its most abundant
January is high summer in Kenya: long golden days, reliable sunshine and that dry heat which makes dawn game drives crisp and afternoons perfect by the pool. The landscape wears late-year rains lightly – still green in patches, drying to gold – and visibility across the plains is superb. The first week sees festive crowds and raised rates; by mid-month the parks quieten while the weather holds.
The coast is at its most tropical – hot, calm and blue – making January an ideal bush-and-beach month.

The southern ecosystems are alive with new life: it’s calving time around Amboseli and the Tsavo plains, and predators know it.
