Forty-five minutes from your sun lounger, Shimba Hills raises coastal rainforest above the beach — Kenya's only wild sable antelope, elephants frequently seen in the clearings, and a ranger-led walk to Sheldrick Falls for a swim beneath the cascade.

It's the simplest wildlife day on the whole coast: morning collection, back before the pool bar shuts.
