Kenya's safari year is defined by two rainy seasons: the long rains from roughly late March to May, and the short rains in November and early December. Between them fall two dry periods — June to October, and the warm, bright window from January to early March.

Begin with the experience, not the date
For the Great Migration: August and September in the Maasai Mara are the classic choice — though everyone knows it. July and October bring the herds with slightly smaller crowds.
For photographers: the green seasons. November–December and March offer storm light, dust-free air, newborn animals and dramatic skies — at a fraction of peak prices.
For a bush-and-beach honeymoon: January and February. Reliable sun inland and along the Diani coast, warm sea temperatures, and none of the August crush.
For value: April to early June. You may dodge some showers, but you’ll have world-famous parks almost to yourself and pay the lowest prices of the year.
