2.Days one to three: arrival and immersion
The rhythm settles in
Day one is the drive in — the Rift escarpment viewpoint, Narok's chai stop, first zebra on the horizon — bringing you into camp for an evening drive that serves as an introduction: here are the plains, here is a lion, sleep now. Days two and three follow the classic rhythm: out at first light while the cats are still at work, the long lunch pause while the plains rest, then back out for the golden hours. By the third morning something changes — you've ticked the list, so you earn the luxury few on a short safari enjoy: spending the whole morning with one cheetah family, or letting your guide follow a hunch about where the leopard will be at dusk. Guides call day-three guests 'settled'. It shows in the photos.
3.Days Four and Five — Variations
Create your own second act
The conservancy option moves day four beyond the reserve boundary, where night drives and guided walks are permitted and vehicle numbers are capped – a different legal regime, a quieter Mara. The village option provides a proper Maasai cultural visit: unhurried, via your camp’s own community relationship rather than a roadside stop. The lakes extension turns five Mara days into a five-day circuit home via Naivasha and Nakuru, adding flamingos and rhino to big-cat country. Day five everywhere is the long goodbye – one final dawn drive, brunch, and the road home.

No one has ever told us that afterwards. The reserve and its conservancies cover far more ground than a week can possibly cover, and the sense of settledness that sets in on day three is what most people actually came for without realising it.
Can this itinerary be run as a fly-in? expand_more
Yes — daily scheduled flights serve the Mara airstrips from Wilson Airport, and we create fly-in options as bespoke quotes. The flight replaces each five-hour drive with under an hour, effectively adding a day of game drives.
When should I book the migration season option? expand_more
Six to nine months in advance for July–October, when camps near the river fill first. At other times of year, a few weeks' notice is usually sufficient.
