Days add depth, not just distance
The first thing extra days buy isn’t more parks — it’s more chances. Wildlife runs on probability: lions are commonly seen on any Mara visit, but a leopard, a hunt, a seasonal river crossing — those reward repeated dawns. One day gives you a single roll of the dice (and the Mara’s density makes it a loaded one); three days gives you five or six rolls; five days gives you enough that luck matters far less.
The second thing days buy is settling in. By the third morning, travellers stop hunting sightings and start watching behaviour — guides see it happen like clockwork. That’s when a safari becomes the trip people describe for the rest of their lives, and it’s the honest case for five days or more.

How many days for a Big Five safari? expand_more
Six to seven days across two or three parks gives strong odds — seeing a rhino needs a deliberate stop (Ol Pejeta or Lake Nakuru) and leopards are most often seen at dawn. Nothing guarantees all five; good planning increases your chances.
