February is Kenya's driest month and arguably its most reliable: concentrated wildlife at shrinking waterholes, the year's clearest Kilimanjaro views and hot, flawless coast days. The complete February picture.
tips_and_updates Quick facts
The dry season's purest form
By February the land has been drying for months and Kenya is at its most classically 'safari': golden grass, dust devils, acacias in silhouette and heat that builds to dramatic 33°C afternoons. Skies stay cloudless for days at a stretch - which is why February owns the calendar's best odds of seeing Kilimanjaro whole, snow to base, from an Amboseli dawn.
The waterhole economy
Dry-season game viewing is about concentration: as seasonal pools vanish, everything that drinks must come to permanent water, and predators set ambushes accordingly. Riverine drives in the Mara and waterhole stakeouts in Tsavo reward patience richly. On the Rift lakes, flamingo numbers often build through February; in Samburu the Ewaso Nyiro becomes the north's single magnet.

Niroskos guiding team · Amboseli specialists
It's hot, but safari rhythm works with it: drives at dawn and dusk, pool and shade through the midday peak. The coast is hotter - factor sea breezes into hotel choice.
Not in Kenya - the herds are calving in Tanzania's southern Serengeti. Kenya's February strength is resident game concentrated by the dry.
One of the best months: reliable weather, romantic light, quieter camps than the July-October peak and a flawless coast finale.
