By September the wildebeest treat the Mara River as a commute rather than a frontier - crossings run both directions, sometimes twice a day at active points. Predators are looking their sleekest; cubs born to the abundance are out and learning; and the resident specialists - leopard along the Talek, cheetah on the open flats - reclaim guides' attention from the migration's noise.
